MEET Greg

Leadership with Integrity
I am Greg Fountain, and I am running for the Citrus County Mosquito Control District. I have lived in Florida for the past 33 years and finally settled in Citrus County in 2016. I have no intention of moving again as it feels like home.
I am running for the Mosquito Control Board because I want to put my professional experience and commitment to community service to work for the people of Citrus County. I will bring a practical, independent, and results-focused approach to the board, with a commitment to transparency, fiscal responsibility, effective mosquito control while protecting the natural environment that makes Citrus County such a special place to call home.

Community Outreach
Throughout my career, I have acquired more than 25 years of management and leadership experience in both the public and private sectors. My professional life has included managing manufacturing operations with more than 100 employees, overseeing budgets and productivity, improving efficiency, and leading teams. In government, I have worked in both county and state government, with experience in program evaluation, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, information technology, and organizational performance improvement. In my current role, I evaluate public services across all 67 Florida counties, analyzing data and performance information to identify what is working, where improvements can be made, and how public resources can be used more effectively.
My education and professional training have provided me with a broad foundation for public service. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Saint Leo University, graduating Magna Cum Laude, and completed studies in Biology at the University of Kansas. I am currently holding certifications in Child Protective Investigations, Six Sigma Green Belt, and a graduate of the Florida State Leadership Academy. I have also completed extensive training in management and leadership, information technology and systems, and industrial automation. This combination of education and experience has taught me the importance of using facts, data, and sound analysis when making decisions that affect the public.
Community service has also been an important part of my life. I currently serve as a board member of NAMI Citrus. I have volunteered as a judge with Teen Court, mentored at-risk and troubled youth through Life for Youth Camp, and supported organizations and community efforts including the Substance Exposed Newborn Task Force, Twistid Arts Initiative, Family Resource Center, and Habitat for Humanity.
